with the embroidery machine. It's called Free Standing Lace. It is just thread stitched through two layers of water soluble stabilizer. When the design is done, it is rinsed in warm water and pressed into paper towel to absorb the stabilizer and water. The crosses are 2" X 3.3/4". I then made a mixture of old fashioned fabric starch by cooking a little water and cornstarch until medium thick and then dipped the designs in it. I pressed them between layers of paper towel with a hot iron until dry. I could have just layed them flat and let them dry but couldn't wait to see them done. Right now I'm working on angel bookmarks. I am taking them to this couple tomorrow where the guy has cancer. If they have a similar faith, maybe they'll want one.
