I have had turtles as pets in the past, and found that for an aquatic creature they are messy and require to much space. Has anyone here actually raised turtles in a pond, and managed to keep them running off in search of greener pastures?

Happy ponding,

The reason I asked was, a guy at another forum has a 145 gallon pond and mentioned he thought about putting a turtle in his pond. I advised him not to if he was planning on having a well planted pond and fish. The turtle I had was always moving things around and stomping on the plants.

Jerry's got a big enough pond to keep all of the wildlife happy, including the turtles. Otherwise they would wander off.
