Any Ponder here use the Pond Vac 3?

I ordered one and I am waiting for it to arrive.... It wouldn't think it would suck up fish unless they are very small and are hanging around on the bottom near the business end of the vacuum.

I have one and it works well. I imagine it would suck up small fish if they got too close to the working end. If a fish got sucked up it should survive the ordeal, but none of our fish have ever gotten close to the end.

thats a good price....you will be happy with it....the discharge hose is long and i like to run it into the flower beds while using it and the plants get the bonus fertilizer

I have a very small pond and can't spend that amount on money for a pond vac. In the past I have used a shop vac very carefully avoiding the fish. It does not have a discharge so I have to stop to empty it every few seconds which is a real pain plus it has almost fallen in the pond a couple of times so it is a really dangerous thing to do.

I have been manually netting the bottom. Anyone know of any other devices or methods to clean the bottom? My pond is only 2 feet deep.

That's right, thanks.  I remember saw it at the other forum.  It looked like a little more involved project than I wanted to attempt alone if I remember correctly.  I will take another look at it.

I agree, Esther is quite the handy lady. She can make almost any thing out of nothing. I really like her backyard PVC lazyboy lounge chair. The 55 gallon drum vac attachment is really amazing in the way she put it al together, and if it's alright with you Esther, I'm going to make one that fits on my shop vac.

Sure OM, and by the way, I really didn't have any hand in making the pond vac. I did find the idea online and showed it to Pete and then got the barrel. I just stood back and watched him go to work. Pete is a Master Plumber so has had lots of exposure to construction.

I grew up on a farm so was always around DIYers. My mom rewired our farm house when I was about 10. Then she painted that texture paint on all the walls because the plaster was so cracked. She was always making something from scratch although never got into woodworking like me.

But see my X was an industrial arts teacher so I've always been around people who "did stuff". And I seem to have been born with the ability to "visualize" things and figure them out. So between what I can think up and what Pete can do, we usually do most anything we decide to do.

Right now it's something simple. It seems like so many of our tenants smoke and we don't want them smoking inside. So I want to make up some sort of ash/butt container that can sit on the deck for when they go outside to smoke. I looked all over the internet today and the stuff for sale ran from $40 to a couple hundred. I was just thinking of using an old coffee can and cut a hole in the top. Put sand in it and then they can dump the crud out when it gets full.

I recently read some where that the company that makes the pond-o-vac is no longer going to export their products to the USA. You might want to reconsider your purchase or do a little more research before buying

I'm like fishlipsmcgee, my pond is not big enough to justify me buying a pond vac. I can reach almost all of the bottum of my pond using a large fish net taped to a bloom handle. I also have one of those 'as seen on TV' grippers that helps me pick up single objects off of the bottum of the pond.
