This lily blossom has 4 yellow centers.
So odd.

Now if it had two more it would be considered sextuplets and you could start your own reality show ex[giggle]

Turns out that this blossom is viviparous. Meaning it is starting a baby plant in the middle of the 4 blossoms. Then there is also another bud in there somewhere. It's like it really went crazy.

By the way it's Colorado.

Tis quite strange looking and so now can you somehow get those babies outta the bloom to start a new plant? I don't quite understand the viviparous part

I don't know much about the "laws" of botany, but I'd only heard of tropicals being viviparous before. ex[daisy] Pretty cool.

Yes, the new plant can be started in a pot. I thought I'd wait a while until the blossoms arund it are rotted and the stem starts to die. There is a bud coming on at the same spot so I don't think the stem will die for a while.

Most plants that have the capability of starting a new plant like that are tropical and I think most of them form at the top of the stem where the pad attached. But a hybridizer told me that Colorado and some other hardies have that gene, but doesn't very often do it.

That's very cool Esther. Thanks for the info and post a picture of it when you start to grow it away from the mother plant.
