Hubby is sick again!

I wish I knew why he is getting sick so often all of a sudden. Last night he had chills & fever all night. This morning I got him to the doctor. He has a virus (not the flu) and a urinary tract infection. They gave him a shot and put him on Leviquin (sp). He has been miserable all day. And, poor thing, today is his 69th birthday. What a way to have to spend it! Please pray that he gets well and stays that way for a while.

There's nothing worse that a sick man. Especially if they aren't sick very often. Usually they won't follow directions, complain a lot and want to be babied and catered to. LOL...

I imagine they said to drink a lot of water and don't they suggest cranberry juice being good for urinary tract infections? I bet he'll feel better tomorrow. The antibiotics usually kick in pretty quick. Hope he is better soon.

I hope he is better soon, Rosebud. Maybe his previous illness left him in a weakened state and he picked something up. Good thing he saw the doctor and is on meds. Hopefully he will be better by the time you read this.

His name is Robert. I think his fever broke last night. He woke me up and said he had sweat so much his sheets were wet. I had to change them. That must have been a turning point because he is much improved this morning. I thank you all for the prayers. When this is over, I still want them to dig and find out why his immune system is so low. He has always been pretty healthy. Of course, he turned 69 years old yesterday. I guess age could be a factor. It's hard to see the man you always saw as strong become so sick and weakened. LOL He doesn't like it much either.

Okay, now I'm really getting upset! I was out with some of my friend from church delivering food to some needy people today. While we were out, my hubby called me and said he needed for me to come home. His blood pressure was 61/56 and he had passed out! I called 911 and then headed home. We spent 7 hours in the emergency room. They did a CAT scan to see if maybe he had had a stroke, but that turned out okay. They have him on a heart monitor, but so far that is okay too. His blood pressure has come back up to normal. They are keeping him over night for observation. Frankly, I want them to keep him till they know what is wrong! There are just too many things happening to him! I'm going to talk to our doctor when he comes to check on him tomorrow. Y'all please say a prayer that they can find out what is really going on with him.

I hope the doctor is able to figure out what is wrong with your husband and get him treatment. If he can't maybe it is time for a second opinion. Is he on any medication that could affect his blood pressure?

I'm pretty sure this episode is because of his blood pressure medicine. The first med they tried him on didn't work. They started him on a new one. Apparently this one works, but the dosage must not be right. But I still think there is something else going on with him. He is just sick too often.

I'll pray for Robert but watch those doctors, they will kill you with their medicines. Hopefully they will get his dosage correct.

Well, they did 4 hours of tests on him today. They did an EKG, an MRI, an EEG, and a heart sonogram. They couldn't find anything wrong. The neurologist said he did not see anything suspicious in the EEG or MRI. The heart doctor said the same. The heart doctor told him not to take any blood pressure meds any more. He would rather see Robert live with a little high blood pressure than to have this happen again. Both of them said he could go home, but at 7:30 his primary doctor hadn't come in to release him, so he will have to spend another night and come home tomorrow morning.

Oh mercy!! That is so scary to see him going through all this uncertainty. My dad has had 4 episodes of passing out in a little over a year. But every time, they ran all the tests and don't seem to find anything. Just recently he needed work on his prostate and when they were doing the pretesting, discovered he had some (don't know if it was just one or more) sticky valves somewhere. I think in the heart. So they started him on meds and he feels better. So maybe that is why he passed out when he did. Funny thing, 2 of the 4 happened during a morning church service. One a year ago summer and the last this summer in a different church.

It's a bear getting old. I'm 67.

Okay, we're home again. The doctor is having Home Health come in 3 times a week to check his blood pressure. So far it seems to be doing fine. I hope this is all the drama we will have for a while! This has us both really stressed out!

My wife bought me a real good automatic BP cuff from a drug store made by Omron. It has a digital readout and it is very accurate. I use it to check the guys at fire school because of the noise. It's not like I'm getting old and loosing my hearing or anything.

We also have a digital monitor at home. I have high blood pressure and have to keep an eye on mine too. Since he got home, Robert's pressure has been pretty good. That is WITHOUT taking any medication! He probably didn't need it in the first place!
