Attorney General Eric Holder, with President Obama’s approval, is bringing self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and four other suspects to New York City to stand trial, moving them from the Guantanamo detention center where they were to be tried by a military tribunal.
That means that terrorists gets the same constitutional rights as American citizens since they will be on US soil. Of course they will be all lawyered up with a team of the best attorneys that our taxpayer dollars can buy and should they be found guilty there will be appeals which we will also pay for. (We can afford this expense and the administration is saying that cost is a factor in sending more troops to Afghanistan???)
This will compromise intelligence gathering techniques plus other evidence that came from classified sources since this will be in a public court plus provide jihadists a forum. Some feel that this is really a political move to put the CIA and the Bush administration on trial for water boarding and techniques used to get information from some of the terrorists. Some even feel that there is a possibility that the terrorists could be let off if the techniques used to get information from them were found to be unconstitutional.
