From the makers of "Fireproof" four police officers are the focus of this movie. Anyone who did not see Fireproof needs to watch it, great movie.

I recently went on a weekend of champions prison ministry event. The founder, Bill Glass, has gone into thousands of prisons over the last 30+ years. He says that in all that time he still has not met a single inmate who was blessed by his father and had a good relationship with him.Mikey wrote:I believe our communities surely need fathers involved in raising their families. As a cop I saw the breakdown in the lower economic Black community where fathers are nearly non existent and lawlessness and debauchery is rampant. That culture is spreading quickly to other communities as well.
And of course as a Christian I believe it is the father's responsibility to raise his children in the ways of the Lord so that when they are older they will not depart.
I have the love dare book from that movie but I haven't done it. Haven't ever used the fire extinguisher either but it's good to know it's there. One book that has been tremendously helpful is "Men are like waffles, women are like spaghetti". I have loaned it out several times to friends who were frustrated in their relationships with their spouse. Men and women were designed to think differently and understanding those differences really helps me understand my wife better. Her ways don't make sense to me because she processes life in a different way than I do. The balance of the two is part of the grand design.bullfrog wrote:Fireproof is a great movie. All marriages can become complacent over time, we tend to take our partner for granted it seems. I think we should watch this movie twice a year just to remind ourselves of what is important. Being a firefighter, I really enjoyed it but saving or reawakening a marriage is the main thrust of the movie.
That statement reminds me of Gary Smalley who did a video series on marriage that I saw some 20+ years ago. Gary said the same thing.Men and women were designed to think differently and understanding those differences really helps me understand my wife better. Her ways don't make sense to me because she processes life in a different way than I do. The balance of the two is part of the grand design.
