Yesterday I made a larger plant ring floater so I can put my Anacharis and other floating oxygenater plants in there so the fish can't eat it all. I had some black pvc tubing 1&1/2" or 1&3/4" left over and some plastic connectors. I had to buy the plastic screen door material for the sides and bottom....$20.but it should last a long time. I wanted it to be straight down on the sides this time with a round bottom so I had to sew it all together in pieces w/ heavy duty fish line. It's about 4ft wide and 9" deep. Now some of the fish do tend to jump over the rim on these things but at least it's not the whole lot of them at once in there munching on the plants. The fish can also hide under the floaters from predators like the Heron.

It sure does and here's a picture w/ some Anacharis floating in it. Maybe the stuff can grow and multiply now that the fish can't get at it. I still have some of it in the pond so they can eat on it if they get the munchies

Great idea JW, I'll need plants first before my fish.

Can't wait til you get your pond started Bullfrog. What kind of fish are you gonna put in? I just have goldfish as Koi are monsters in regards to plants They like to re-arrange everything into one big mess But maybe there are ways of putting the plants in so they can't get at them. The floating plant rings and individual pot float rings might work Or bog gardens are wonderful ex[nod]

That size and type of floating plant ring would be great for raising your fry. Especially if you could find the egg mass and put it into the ring.

If one wanted to raise some it would work nicely but I don't want anymore fish than I already have. You have those nice Shubunkins and that would be great for those as you could prolly sell them. But your pond is too small for a big ring like that one I'm thinking

Hi JW,
Your right. I don't have the room for a larger pond, and I'm happy with the one I have now. I really like your new floating idea, it could have uses.

Good job. Looks like something I would come up with.

That's what I thought Esther and I knew you would be happy to see I'm trying
