Very nice, I still haven't been able to start on my pond but I am finally through repairing hurricane damage.

When I built my pond I pulled a permit from the city. They required a plot plan so that they could approve the location of the pond. The plan was approved and shortly thereafter I began digging being fairly confident I would not be digging into buried power lines, water lines etc...

Hmmmmmm....... SURPRISE!

Yes, I took a sledge hammer to both the concrete slab as well as the two concrete pipes. I was a tad bit nervouse when I started pounding on that large pipe....

I believe the concrete slab was original as something for a dairy that used to be on the property and I believe the concrete pipes were just put there as landfill when they were developing the property back in the early 60's. In 1957 they changed the name of the city where I live from Dairy City to Cypress....

Volume wise the pond is 2,304 gallons, 2 quarts and 1 pint.... but who's counting? ex[giggle]

Well, there's a lot of talk over on AP about the Victorias - overwintering and other care. I think they're sort of difficult to keep.

Way too big for my pond, and I don't like the unfriendly prickly pads.

I really like your pond. Like Freddie's, it almost looks like it belongs there.

No matter what I do with mine it will always look a bit out of place, but I enjoy it and the fish.

Happy ponding,
