Hey now;
I have joined the party here. My name is Bill. My wife is Anita. We have 2 ponds.
One is a little 125 gallon preformed plastic pond that we got at Lowes on clearance for 7 bucks. The other is approx 3500 gallons and home to 10 koi and one black google eyed goldfish named Columbus. We have 2 cats, Indy and Hopi, 3 dogs, Alfred, Cooter, and Chuck. Alfred is a 14 year old Basset who is going blind and has lived his entire life with a birth defect that causes his front legs to grow in a twisted manner. We got Alfie from a rescue service called "Guardian Angel Basset Rescue" he was a little less than one year old at the time. He was about 6 when we got the 2 cats as kittens and he became their mother. We have rescued 4 Bassets over the years, two of which were already 10 and 12 years old when we got them. The first one was "Fred Basset" he came to us when we went to purchase a picnic table from a co-worker and found out that they were going to put Fred to sleep the following week cause they were moving into a new home and he was old and smelly so they didn't want him anymore.
Needless to say we didn't buy the picnic set but came home with a Basset Hound instead. He lived 4 more years with us before old age took its toll and he had to be put down. We also got "Slinky" from the rescue service at the ripe old age of 12. He was in a breeding program his entire life and had outlived his usefulness. We only had him about 6 months before cancer took him away from us.
Next rescue was "Samantha" a two year old Basset. She was with us for 5 years before coming down with something that caused her to just start dropping weight and the vets couldn't figure it out. She left us 3 years ago.
This brings us to Chuck and Cooter. Chuck is an Olde English Bulldogge. We got as a pup from a breeder in Michigan. After all the heartbreaks we experienced with rescue dogs we felt it was time to get a puppy. He is a wonderful dog and by far the smartest dog we have ever had.
Last but not least is "Cooter", she is another Basset Hound we got as a pup from a breeder in Ohio. She is my wife's shadow and a real fireball. We never knew Bassets had so much energy.I'll try and post pictures of the bunch ASAP
