Just got back

We saw about 40 dolphins on the ferry ride to the island. Checked in and went to eat at Tortugas...



The historic homes and churches are really nice there..



A few bikes lined up on the Strand...



Left the and went to "The Spot" on the Seawall and had a few. You can tell that is a real classy place by the urinals in the men's room.



We sat on our balcony and got a good rum buzz late last night. Here's the view this morning..

UM first I'll say I'm glad I wasn't drinking hot coffee when I saw the picture of the urinal. LOL
Yah that house or whatever is amazing. I love to drive around in Grand Rapids and just look at the old structures even here and we don't have the history of your area.
So it sounds like you had a good time. Must be nice.

Now I'm jealous! I wanna go to Galveston so bad! That's where my sisters and I like to have our reunion every year. We usually stay at the Galvez. Is that "house" the one they call the Bishop's Castle? It looks like it has withstood the hurricanes pretty well. I haven't been on the Strand since hurricane Rita. Have they got it back like it was?
Ladies, if y'all ever get down this way, you need to see Galveston! There is something for everybody there. I love it!

The Strand took 2 feet of water but everything is back to normal, except for the people that is. Galveston is such a mix of freaky people and that is what makes it so interesting. Ate at Al T's on the way home. Shrimp gumbo and Cajun grilled pork chops, damn it was good.

Get ready for some more rain Rosebud, it's a coming our way.

After 3 margaritas at Tortugas, beer on the Strand and at the Spot we went back to our room and sat on the balcony. Rum and Vodka started making everything really funny. There is a huge biker rally on the island this weekend so traffic was heavy as Harleys thundered down the Seawall.

I looked down the road and saw a large black man stagger and then fall sideways into a door of a business. His dog waited and I made the mistake of pointing it out to my wife, the ultimate animal rescue lover. We stared intently at the dog as it did not move and waited for it's master.

Finally she said "F*ck this shit, that dog is going to get hit by a car, I'm going to save him." I know better than to argue with her so off she went down 3 flights of stairs and down to block to save that dog. It's dark, but you can see the dog just to the right of the building as she approaches it.



She walked right by the dog and went out of sight. Then she came back and when she got there I asked her what was up?

"It was a freaking sign." she said. It wasn't a dog at all. We laughed our ass off, I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Here is the "dog" in daylight, sober.

I haven't been to Galveston since before Rita. Bullfrog, is the Poop Deck still there and how about the Strand Street Salon?

Yes the Poop Deck is still standing, they actually had a hurricane party there and rode out Ike which was really nuts.
