14 weiner dogs a bunch of geese and an old man who we call Santa Claus and his wife on Wed Nov 25, 2009 8:05 pm
Ok I just have to tell someone about my dramatic day out here in the woods. So I'm out at the end of our property trying to pile up a bunch of dead trees and brush on the side of our road to block the paper delivery person from driving over our grass and leaving big ruts in it. Well all of a sudden I here all this screaming and yelling and barking and honking of geese and I mean we're talking about murderous ranting and raving like people are getting killed or something. So after hearing this for awhile I think I've got to do something so I have my big heavy rake in my hand and I walk over to the back of where the screaming is coming from and I continue walking towards the screaming. I come to the house of Santa Claus(we just call him this cause he looks like him) and his wife and then I see 14 wiener dogs trying to kill all their geese so I climb over the fence and start yelling and pushing at the dogs w/ the rake and scooping up geese and putting them out of harms way and then on to the next one and the next and the next till finally through all the feathers and blood I am able to get all the dogs away from the poor geese. Santa is too old to do much and his wife can't hardy help either. Whew, I had goose down all over me and I felt like I was in some kind of a movie from back in the 1930's cause that's the way this place looks. I guess the wife had come home and accidentally let the 14 wiener dogs out of the little yard they were penned in and that's when all hell broke loose. Santa fell down in the mud while all this was going on and I had to stop w/ the geese for a minute and see if he was ok and put his shoe on for him, then back to the dogs and geese. Man those little wiener dogs can be vicious when attacking other animals let me tell you this. So after it all it looks like 3 geese got the worst of it and we don't know if they will be ok or not. I guess sometimes they get infected and die after an attack. I'm hoping they will be ok. At least all the others are safe cause those dogs would have kept on til they killed every one of them. Santa's wife brought me over a big bag of Portebelo mushrooms that she picked from under one of her trees as a thank you and said I could cut or dig some noble fir trees also if I wanted. I hope they are really edible mushrooms or this could be my demise and a bad ending to my story but I believe they had some for dinner last night and they say they know all about mushrooms. He has some kind of a PHD in horticulture so I think I'm safe. Anyway all is quiet for now and I am thankful I was there to help :[IMG]/H-turkey
